SONOMA CASITAS

Built in 1900, this house was part of a family compound in what was once Boyes Hot Springs – a popular weekend getaway for San Francisco families in the ‘50s. When we purchased the home it had been uninhabited for over 10 years. It was important to us to keep the existing foundation, creating two distinct spaces within the house and updating everything to be eco-friendly.

The original structure had stairs coming down the front which we moved to the back, making the property more approachable upon entry. We added a garden and incorporated more greenery throughout, creating various outdoor areas for guests to enjoy.

The pathway along the side of the house was a place where the original owners would gather for large family dinners on the weekends. In reviving this refuge, we wanted to bring some of that spirit back.
