About the maker

Åsas Tomtebod

Made in Sweden

Åsas Tomtebod began at a kitchen sink in Småland, Sweden, where Åsa Götander felted wool with soap and water to make her first tomtar, the little gnomes of Swedish Christmas folklore. Her first batch of about fifty sold at a Christmas market in Gislaved. Still family-run and based in Örnahol, the company makes each figure from natural materials: felted wool from Gotland sheep, wooden hands, feet and faces, and real leather.

Sustainability: natural materials (wool, wood and leather) shaped by hand in small batches, so no two figures are alike.
