Uashmama

Made in Italy

Uashmama was founded in Tuscany by Marco Marconi, a former shoe designer, who developed a washable paper that looks and ages like leather. The material is made from cellulose fibres strengthened with a plant-based wax, then stretched and hardened so it can be used every day and washed. Pieces are made by craftspeople in the region.

Sustainability: raw materials come from controlled, sustainably managed forests; no chrome is used and chemicals are kept to a minimum; water is reused during dyeing; offcuts reinforce the seams; and products ship in paper, not plastic.
